At Oakmoor Farm, we raise our Alpacas with love and care. We are passionate about alpacas and love everything about these gentle creatures. We have been enamoured with our alpacas, from their luxurious fleece to their inquisitive and serene nature, ever since we brought them here to Oakmoor Farm in the Peak District.
We’d love you to meet our Alpacas and welcome you to visit our hilltop farm and facilities whilst delighting in the views and the beauty of the Peak District. We’re sure you’ll leave happy, having had lots of fun, learned something new, taken memorable photos whilst taking in some quality outdoor time with family or friends and enjoying our wonderful Staffordshire Alpaca Experiences.
At Oak Moor Farm we always aim to offer our visitors a unique experience, and truly appreciate the great feedback we receive!
Dating back to the 1800’s Oak Moor Farm is a traditional farm set in 11 areas of rolling countryside near Grindon. We purchased Oak Moor in December 2021, and as soon as we set our eyes on this beautiful property, its location, and the endless magnificent views, we instantly fell in love.
Bringing our family to the Peak District was our best decision; our multi-generational living was just what the farm needed.
Although the farm was in reasonably good condition, it needed a lot of love and care, so we jumped into action and decided to concentrate on the outside; the priority had always been to get animals back onto the farm, but not just any animals we had our heart set on Alpacas!
After many months of gruelling hard work to return the land to a ‘habitable and safe’ environment for the Alpacas, we finally welcomed our first herd to the farm.
Having spent many hours with our gentle Alpacas, walking them with families and friends, and genuinely getting to know our herd, we have found them a true pleasure to be around. We want to give everyone the unique opportunity to get up and close to these fantastic gentle creatures and to provide families and people of all ages the chance to meet, walk and hand-feed the Alpacas.

On the doorstep of Oak Moor Farm are the local villages of Grindon and Butterton, within easy access to Thors Cave, Manifold Valley and Alton Towers whilst also on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales.
Built in 1782, The Black Lion is at the heart of Butterton and boasts real olde world charm. On glorious sunny days, bikes are set to one side while cyclists sit in the large beer garden to enjoy refreshments; come the winter months, customers are more likely to crowd around the warmth of the pub’s old range.
St Bartholomew’s Church is a Grade II-listed building built in 1871. The Church has an imposing spire that dominates the local landscape.
Another little-known fact is that Butterton is Staffordshire’s only ‘Doubly Thankful Village’, so-called because all the men from the parish returned safely from both the First and Second World Wars.
Situated north of Grindon Village, there is a memorial for a Halifax aircraft that crashed on Grindon Moor on 13 February 1947. Six RAF men died in the crash; the Halifax bomber was bringing relief to the stricken and remote village during the great blizzard of 1947.
If you’ve ever wanted to cuddle an alpaca, listen to their unique way of communicating, and experience how relaxing they are, we’d love to see you at Oak Moor Farm!
